A TOP teacher is celebrating after winning a prestigious national award.

Jane Workman has scooped the outstanding newcomer to design and technology award.

Jane was nominated by staff at Cleeve School in Bishop's Cleeve, where she used to work. She will collect her prize at the Design and Technology Association's (DTA) awards dinner in London on March 8. Jane said: "I am in shock at receiving this award and am not sure I deserve it."

She is now a teacher at Barnwood Park Arts College in Gloucester and staff there have praised her for winning the award.

A DTA spokesman said Jane had "shown outstanding ability" and "demonstrated the capacity to become an outstanding teacher".
