MORECAMBE have made a stuttering start to their sixth season as a Football League club.
The Shrimps were the early League Two pacesetters last term, topping the table with six wins and two draws from their opening nine games, including a stunning 6-0 victory over Crawley Town.
That run also saw them claim a last-gasp 2-1 victory at the Abbey Business Stadium with Kevin Ellison netting the winner in stoppage time.
Ellison also scored twice in Morecambe's 3-2 home win over Cheltenham last March.
The tall winger finished the campaign with 17 goals, but his scoring feats were not enough to prevent Jim Bentley's side plummeting down the table when winter came and they eventually ended 15th.
Morecambe are without a win in four matches and lie 18th in the table, with eight points from eight matches.
Bentley's summer work in the transfer market saw him bring in Andrew Wright from Scunthorpe and Robbie Threlfall from Bradford, while Richard Brodie has arrived on six-month loan deal from League One newboys Crawley.
Brodie was on target along with Jack Redshaw in last week's home match against Plymouth Argyle and Morecambe led 2-0, but two goals in the last ten minutes sealed a 3-2 victory for the Pilgrims in what was the 50th League fixture played at the Globe Arena.
Redshaw, Ellison and Andrew Fleming all have three goals to their name so far this season.
Left-back Threlfall started his career at Liverpool, spending time on loan at Hereford United, Northampton Town, Stockport County and Bradford City before joining the Bantams on a permanent basis in 2010.
Wright is another former Liverpool youngster, who played for the Cape Cod Crusaders in the USA before returning across the Atlantic for a spell with Scunthorpe United, including loan stints with Grimsby Town.
Morecambe's away form has been solid so far this term, with two wins and a draw from their four trips. They have only lost on the road at Bradford City, going down 3-1.
Cheltenham have won six and drawn two of their 12 meetings with Morecambe in League Two.
Their last League victory was in February 2010, when goals from Julian Alsop and loan man Matt Thornhill sealed the points.
