Carter staying would be great for the Robins

How important is it that Cheltenham Town keep Darren Carter?

It would be great if we could keep him, he is a talented footballer. However, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we lost him. We haven't seen the best of him. I think League Two football is harder than some footballers think it's going to be. It's a battle. Saying this, I would offer him good money to stay because I believe he can improve from now until the end of the season. If we reached the play-offs, his calm head and experience would give us an advantage.

Are there any particular players you'd like to see Mark Yates go for?

If I was him I would go to Aidy Boothroyd and offer as much money as we can afford to offer for the services of Adebayo Akinfenwa. I'd offer him the captain's armband to get him here, I think he's that good. I would like to see another winger, I think Adam Mekki of Aldershot is decent. As long as we get a decent target man in I will be a bit happier.

Are you happy for Yates to bide his time in the transfer market providing he delivers before the end of the month?

I'm sure he and the fans would love to get three players into the club a few days after the window opens but it doesn't work like that. I do think this patient approach is something he will stick with. It depends on the player/club in question. Sometimes situations need urgency otherwise you may have waited for nothing and be left short.

How would you compare this season's squad to last season's overall?

The nucleus from last season remains. The main difference has been the loans which came in last term who made big impacts, so that is something we are lacking.

I would love to be able to say we don't miss Luke Summerfield, but we do.
