JERMAINE McGlashan believes he is a much-improved player one year after becoming Cheltenham Town's joint record signing.
Mark Yates shelled out £50,000 to Aldershot Town to bring McGlashan to the Abbey Business Stadium last January, equalling the fee paid for Grant McCann and Brian Wilson by Bobby Gould and John Ward respectively.
McGlashan almost always catches the eye with his speed and trickery on the right flank, but he knows he must improve his end product.
The 24-year-old Londoner is also keen to add more goals to his game, but consistently delivering accurate balls into the danger area is his prime concern.
"My end product in general needs to improve," he said. "I need to put in more crosses, slowing things down sometimes and picking a man out.
"I definitely think I have improved since joining Cheltenham, though.
"I have matured as a player because I was raw when I signed.
"I have had to change my game to due to being doubled up on.
"But I am confident I am learning and I want to carry on doing so."
McGlashan picked the two-legged play-off semi-final victory over Torquay United as the highlight of his Robins career so far, along with an appearance in the final at Wembley and a chance to take on Everton in this season's FA Cup.
"I'll never forget the time I knocked (Marouane) Fellaini over!" he said.
"There have been ups and downs for me since I came here, but definitely more highs and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I feel settled here and promotion is the key now.
"That would be the biggest highlight if we can get that this season."
McGlashan admitted he has a tendency to flit in and out of games and he has been working hard to ensure he can affect things in other ways if he is not receiving the ball in his preferred areas.
"I am working on my movement off the ball, but I feel I am the type of player who can be quiet for a while and then it only takes one moment to have a say," he said.
"I need to be clever and get into good positions when I am being doubled up on.
"When it's not happening, how can I adapt and affect the game? Maybe by tucking in and allowing Sido (Jombati) to bomb on more. I just want to kick on now."
