A CYCLIST was seriously injured yesterday in a crash on the Golden Valley bypass.

The man from Gloucester collided with a car on the M5 slip- road just before 7am.

Police and ambulance were called to the scene and one lane of the bypass was closed in the Gloucester-bound direction.

The cyclist was treated by paramedics at the scene for his injuries.

He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

A police spokesman said his condition was "stable".

The driver of the Alfa Romeo, from Droitwich in Worcestershire, was also taken to hospital. Details of his injuries are not known.

Motorists were told to expect delays as the road remained closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

Anyone who saw it should call police on 101 quoting incident 59 of October.

Is this report correct? Was the cyclist on the M5 slip-road? Or was the cyclist actually crossing the slip-road junction but still on the bypass? The latter seems more likely.
