Footballers, fashion gurus, royalty and rock stars all turn out for the races

FROM footballers to fashion gurus and royalty to rock stars, Cheltenham Festival was awash with celebrities for Ladies' Day.

Loose Women's Carol Vorderman was checking out the odds and the atmosphere with lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone.

The business-minded blonde she it was the first time she had been at the races, which she said were "wonderful".

The Duchess of Cornwall was in the royal box, while Cotswold fashion guru Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen accompanied his wife Jackie, who judged the Ladies' Day competition.

He said: "I am not really a horsey person, but I come along for the booze and flirting."

The excitement was tempered when horse Wishful Thinking took a tumble in the fourth race.

Jockey Richard Johnson suffered minor injuries to his thigh, while a French photographer was scratched when his camera was knocked into his face.

But as news of only minor injuries reached racegoers, the fun continued.

Footballing legend Steve Bruce and Ground Force's Tommy Walsh were spotted, along with Gloucester rugby player James Simpson-Daniel.

Bride-to-be Emma Davies, 29, was celebrated her hen party with 27 friends. The Lloyds bank worker will marry 33-year-old Lee Wood in Tewkesbury on April 5.

Bass guitarist Tom Marshall, 24, from band Stubblemelt, was also at the races, after his band appeared on BBC Introducing.

He said: "This is my first time here and I will be back."
