CHELTENHAM Gold Cup hero Imperial Commander and The Giant Bolster feature among nine entries for Saturday's feature race.

The duo will make the trip north to contest the Betfair Chase, which Imperial Commander won two years ago, at Haydock.

Their main rival in what could be one of the races of the season is expected to be 2011 Gold Cup winner Long Run, who was runner-up to Kauto Star in the race last year.

Nigel Twiston-Davies has said Imperial Commander is as fit as he can get him at his stable in Guiting Power for his first race since he was pulled up in the 2011 Gold Cup.

David Bridgwater reported The Giant Bolster's preparations for his first run since he finished second in this year's Gold Cup to have gone to plan.

"I wouldn't run him unless I was happy with him," said the Stow-on-the-Wold trainer.

Redmarley trainer Hilary Parrott is eyeing the Betfair Chase for Wayward Prince, who returned to form when finishing second to Silviniaco Conti at Wetherby last time out.

Paul Nicholls could run rising star Silviniaco Conti and Tidal Bay, while Donald McCain could pitch in Weird Al, who was pulled up in the Grand National last time out.

Colin Tizzard's likely outsider Cannington Brook completes the entries.
