HEAD teacher Lisa Quelcuti was keen to remain positive despite her Tewkesbury school being downgraded by Ofsted.
The education watchdog said, in a report following an inspection on June 13 and 14, that Tirlebrook Primary School 'requires improvement'. The ranking was down from the 'good' awarded by Ofsted in 2010.
In their latest report, the watchdog said: "Too few pupils are working at or above the expected levels for their ages. Standards in mathematics are lower than in writing and reading.
"Teaching in the past has been inadequate in some classes."
But they added: "There is evidence of good and outstanding teaching in some classes. Pupils have a positive attitude to learning and their behaviour is good."
Mrs Quelcuti said: "We will continue to work hard to address the issues raised by this inspection."
