OPPONENTS of a controversial incinerator near Gloucester can add their names to an online petition ahead of a public consultation in Churchdown tomorrow night.

The event in GL3 Community Hub at 7pm will give more information on the Javelin Park incinerator that is proposed for Haresfield near junction 12 of the M5.

The plans are due to be considered by the county council planning department next month.

Campaign group Glosvain are opposing the plans and are asking it to be 'called-in' by the Government.

High-profile opposition to the incinerator includes former London mayor Ken Livingstone, who spoke out against the plans at a public meeting in Stonehouse last month.

An e-petition opposing the incinerator plans has been put online by Glosvain.

For more information on their campaign, visit www.glosvain.info.

This meeting is on Thursday 24th not 22nd as this article suggests.

How much of the brown stuff does one need to sling before some of it sticks? Consultation meetings aren't worth a lick if the motivation behind them is political. The really awkward question opponents could ask don't have the advantage of applying only to Conservative politicians...

How many consultation meetings will it take to convince the County Council that what they've signed into is not needed and not wanted?
