Take a look inside No 131 on the Promenade, which opens next Saturday.

It is not a ‘hotel’, but a restaurant with rooms.

The grade II-listed building has gone through four months of building work to transform it from an old office block into a contemporary place to stay..

“It’s a beautiful Georgian house and we just wanted to maintain a certain Georgian feel to it,” said Georgie Pearman, co-owner of No 131 with husband Sam.

“It’s elegant upstairs if you’re staying but then you have downstairs which is a bit more informal.”

The downstairs area will feature a bar and restaurant with three private dining areas, known as Crazy Eights.

If that's what 131 The Prom looks like I will give it a miss. Exterior gives a lovely impression.Pity

Walked past this place yesterday - they have taken over virtually the whole width of the pavement with their site compound, and even have a lorry trailer parked up on the road which appears to be their materials store - as you walk up the narrow strip of pavement left open, you feel like you are actually walking through the middle of a building site. Do hope that once they've finished inside, that they will be replacing the multitude of smashed paving slabs, though - or are CBC going to refurbish this side of the Prom, to match what has been done on the other side. Certainly needs doing, and has done for many years.
