HATHERLEY and Cheltenham United took a point each from their Cheltenham League Division Six top-of-the-table clash.

Hatherley soon justified their reputation as the division's top scorers as they stormed into a two-goal lead in 30 minutes.

The first was typical of Hatherley's season with some great wing play from Nick Fuller setting up Jack Clark to tuck the ball under the goalkeeper on 24 minutes.

United continued to look for the pace of their front men with searching balls over the top, but it was Hatherley who struck again on 32 minutes with Peter Green providing the pass for Fuller to round the keeper and put Hatherley 2-0 up.

United started the second half much brighter and Daryl Fields had to be at his best to dive low to his left to keep out a rasping United.

He was left stranded on 47 minutes when the right winger floated in a cross that missed everyone to find its way into the top corner for 2-1.

A quick counter-attack on 71 minutes ended with a well-worked cross into the centre where United had a man over to head home and bring the game level at 2-2.

Worse was to follow for Hatherley when United were awarded a penalty after a challenge by Chris Jeanes.

United converted and took the lead for the first time on 77 minutes.

Hatherley immediately improved and were rewarded with a fine goal as centre-half Mark Knight reacted first to a loose ball and fed Stu Worgan, who smashed it past the United keeper on 84 minutes.
