Newbury 1 Gloucester A 7
GLOUCESTER Schools' district squads enjoyed a second successive double, the A side winning convincingly at Newbury while the B squad gained a hard-fought win over Bath.
Gloucester A claimed an early lead with a fine individual goal from Basford before Gilkes, Collins and Drewett combined well to play in Mace, whose fierce drive flashed into the top corner.
Newbury keeper Gent saved from Douce, Collins and Basford but central defenders Kyffin and Gilkes had to make a number of timely interceptions to protect stand-in keeper Berry as the hosts looked dangerous on the break.
Four minutes after the interval Drewett extended the visitors' lead after good approach play from Kyffin and Douce before Fowler pulled a goal back for Newbury.
Gloucester's response was immediate however, Mace bursting into the box to restore the visitors' three-goal cushion before the midfielder completed his treble with an excellent finish after fine approach play from Douce and Drewett.
Collins and Mace then combined to set up Cronin for the city side's sixth, and after Webb won a late corner Drewett put the finishing touch to another Douce flag kick to seal a comprehensive victory.
Gloucester: Berry; Webb, Kyffin, Gilkes, Collins, Mace, Douce, Basford; Drewett, Cronin.
Gloucester B 3 Bath 2
GLOUCESTER took an early lead through Hopkins' tenth goal of the season, the forward converting well after Baron's effort following Tyndall's corner had been blocked.
Priday then took advantage of Baron's pass to double the city side's lead before Claridge's effort was deflected beyond Morrissey to cut Gloucester's advantage.
Bath pressed either side of half time and the visitors drew level with ten minutes remaining courtesy of a long range free kick from Green.
But King had the last word, finding the bottom corner to give Gloucester a narrow victory and maintain their 100 percent home record.
Gloucester B: Morrissey; Lawrence, Tyndall, Harris, McKenzie, Hatcher, Baron, Hopkins, Williams, Priday, King. Subs: Stubbs, Martin.
