Gloucester A 3 Plymouth 2

PLYMOUTH started this game the brighter, but Mace gave the city team an eighth-minute lead with a fine drive from the edge of the box.

Despite losing skipper Haswell to injury, Gloucester continued to press and created several opportunities to extend their advantage, only for Mackie to equalise for the visitors just before the break.

Great play from Berry gave Webb the chance to play in Drewett who restored the hosts' lead, though Plymouth again drew level through a Mackie penalty.

Douce however netted what proved to be the winner with 12 minutes remaining and though Basford and Drewett each went close to a fourth, it was the city back line of Berry, Gilkes, Collins, Kyffin and Rigby Mitchell who stood firm to deny Plymouth a point.

Gloucester: Gardner-Medwin; Berry, Kyffin, Rigby Mitchell, Collins, Gilkes, Mace, Haswell, Basford; Drewett, Webb. Subs: Douce, Cronin.

Gloucester B 5 South Gloucestershire 3

HOPKINS gave the hosts an early lead, while Hatcher finished after a goalmouth scramble to double the advantage.

Hopkins then latched on to an excellent Priday cross to make the score 3-0, but Gloucester were indebted to Morrissey twice and Baron for maintaining their lead.

More great play down the left from Priday gave Williams the opportunity to net the city team's fourth, though Griffiths reduced the advantage five minutes before the break and right on half-time a fine finish from Smith pulled the score back to 4-2.

A great strike from the impressive Priday restored Gloucester's three-goal advantage and both Martin and Tyndall also went close for the hosts.

A late penalty though from the visitors' Middleton was the final goal action of an entertaining encounter that was deservedly edged by the city team.

Gloucester B: Morrissey; Stubbs, Tyndall, Harris, McKenzie, Hatcher, Baron, Hopkins, Martin, Priday, King. Subs: Lawrence, Williams.
