TERRY Harris felt Dagenham and Redbridge fully deserved their 1-0 home success against Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

The Daggers registered their first Football League win over the Robins courtesy of Luke Howell's second half strike.

Assistant manager Harris said : "I think we deserved it. It was fair even in the first half and Cheltenham are not a top three side by chance.

"They've had some excellent results and they have some very good players, but it was a well-deserved victory and I am delighted. Every player was eight out of ten really.

"Their goalkeeper made some good saves, which left us on tenterhooks at the end, but I am delighted."

Harris praised right midfielder Matt Saunders for his performance in what was a fine all-round team effort from John Still's team.

"Matt did a very good job on the right and he won't go past players, but he brings others in. On the other wing Medy Elito ran at Keith Lowe more in the second half and we picked up the tempo. To a man, we were fantastic.

"The back four did so well because Cheltenham's two wide men (Jermaine McGlashan and Kaid Mohamed) are good players and we know all about Paul Benson and Shaun Harrad. It was fantastic to keep them so quiet."
